Having a positive impact is at the heart of what we do.
Both frankincense trees and bees have suffered declines worldwide, and most species continue to face threats to their survival. While the worldwide demand for frankincense has driven waves of over-harvesting, it also has the potential to help protect the trees by giving them ongoing value while living. Ethical consumers have a powerful ability to protect the trees long-term.
Honey Production Benefits Trees
Honey is produced from the nectar of the frankincense trees, which the bees gather when the pollinate frankincense flowers.
This activity doesn’t harm the trees in any way; in fact, it helps the trees to reproduce and increases genetic diversity. As a result, frankincense honey production actively supports healthy tree populations, while allowing us to enjoy the health benefits of frankincense without having to tap the trees for resin
10% of Profits Support Conservation
We donate 10% of our profits to support conservation and research initiatives to protect frankincense trees and bees. Our current projects include supporting nurseries to propagate frankincense seedlings, supporting conservation research initiatives to map and monitor Boswellia populations, and working to implement a blockchain-based traceability app to help monitor the health of harvested frankincense trees.
Together, we can ensure that frankincense trees and the bees that pollinate them survive and thrive for generations to come.
